Independent Learning

Text Book - Independent, but requires high degree of motivation. Unhealthy emphasis on rote learning.
Tuition - Dependent on a teacher. Lessons cannot be repeated whenever needed.
eLearning - Independent. Lessons can be repeated on demand. However, lack of flexibility (Example : no offline access of lessons) can hamper learning.
iLearning -Independent and flexible learning. Also creates motivation by engaging the students with lessons being developed in a story board format with lots of animations.

Conceptual Clarity

Text Book - Only text and images may not be enough to explain difficult concepts. Not an interactive medium, hence student cannot ask doubts.
Tuition - Highly dependent on teacher's ability to explain, Difficult to explain abstract concepts.
eLearning - Audio-visual presentation helps students to undertstand abstract concepts more readily. Not all concepts are explained audio-visually.
iLearning - Has all the features of eLearning + full animation and interactive lessons. The most effective way to learn concepts.

Fun and Excitement

Text Book - Unless the topic is very close to one's interest learning from a text book can be very uninteresting and demotivating.
Tuition - A lot depends upon the tutor's ability to bring some fun while learning and excite his students.
eLearning -A lot more interesting way of learning. The student's attention is grabbed by animations and audio visuals.
iLearning - Animated lessons and practical interactive learning experiments create an experience that the student enjoys. Add to this the features like planning his studies using a 'Study Planner' and evaluating his performance using 'Reports' gives him the excitement of being in control of his learning.

Memory Retention

Text Book - Comparatively low memory retention through this method of 'reading and learning' through text and images.
Tuition - Not much difference than school or textbook learning and a lot depends upon the tutor's ability to fire the imagination of the students.
eLearning - The audio visual approach results in a higher degree of memory retention
iLearning - The audio visual approach combined with practical experiments and sequential learning pattern ensures that the lesson learnt is not easily forgotten.

Time Saving

Text Book - Lack of visualization of the concepts results in repetitive learning which usually takes up a lot time of the students.
Tuition - Tuitions take up a lot of time of the students. The travel and also the time spent in the tuition centre leaves him with no or little time for extra curricular activities
eLearning - Saves time for the students as the animated lessons and online tests ensures that he can access his learning from anywhere, anytime.
iLearning - The well organized sequential form of learning and additional features like Performance Reports and Study Planner ensures a high degree of efficiency and gives the student ample time to explore other extra curricular activities.

Personal Attention

Text Book - No supervision.
Tuition - The teacher can personally guide and supervise the student.
eLearning - No supervision.
iLearning - Indirect form of supervision by the software with the help of alerts and Performance Evaluators.

Doubt Clarification

Text Book - The doubt clarification process through the text book is often unsuccessful unless assisted by a teacher.
Tuition - Immediate clarification by the tutor.
eLearning - Email based doubt clarification and response may take upto 24 hours.
iLearning - Email based doubt clarification and response may take upto 24 hours.

Cost

Text Book - Most economical form of learning.
Tuition - Private tutor fees are expensive and unless the batch of students is small, personal attention is not guaranteed despite the higher costs.
eLearning - The costs are upfront but works out to be reasonable when you look at it from an annual perspective.
iLearning - The costs are upfront but works out to be reasonable when you look at it from an annual perspective. For example : A Class X Maths and Science package would work out to only ~ Rs. 158/- per month.
