Trigonometric Ratios of Special Angles - Lesson Summary

Trigonometry is the study of relationships between the sides and angles of a triangle. The ratios of the sides in a right triangle with respect to its acute angles are called trigonometric ratios of the angle.

The angles 0°,30°,45°,60° and 90° are useful angles in trigonometry, and their numerical values are easy to remember.

Complementary angle
Sum of the two angles are 90 0 , then any one angle is the complement of the other.

Trigonometric ratios of complementary angles help in simplifying problems.

Supplementary angle
Sum of the two angles are 180 then are supplementary to each other.

  sin(90° - θ) = cos θ  cos(90° - θ) = sin θ  cosec(90° - θ) = sec θ sec(90° - θ) = cosec θ   tan(90° - θ) = cot θ cot(90° - θ) = tan θ
