The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT INDIA) is an apex resource organisation set up by the Government of India, to assist and advise the Central and State Governments on academic matters related to school education, with headquarters at New Delhi.
The NCERT undertakes the Research, Development, Training, Extension, Publication & Dissemination, Exchange programmes programmes and activities with regard to School Education-CBSE. The NCERT also drafts, publishes and recommends school text books (from CBSE Class I to Class XII) of Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and a range of other subjects based on the recommendations of knowledgeable faculty in the subject.
The objective of NCERT is to assist and advise the Ministry of Education and Social Welfare in the introduction and implementation of its policies and procedures in the field of education, especially School education.

NCERT has brought out a new National Curriculum Framework and a new set of NCERT textbooks in all subjects for primary, secondary and senior secondary classes. Significant steps have been taken to provide assistance to the States to initiate curricular reforms. Other recent initiatives of NCERT include a new assessment strategy for primary schools, recognition of schools representing the heritage of the independence movement, satellite-based in-service training, and introduction of new subjects, such as creative writing and translation, heritage crafts, at the senior secondary stage.
The NCERT India provides academic and technical support for improvement of school education. NCERT has Committees of Academicians to examine the textbooks of all subjects, with a focus to keep the NCERT Syllabus effective and up-to-date to the trends. NCERT decides subjects & concepts for CBSE Syllabus
