Mean of Grouped Data

In Statistics Mean, Median and Mode are known as the measures of central tendencies. Median is the middle most value of the observations when the observations either arranged in increasing or decreasing order
Preparing cumulative frequency distribution table is the first step in calculating the median of the grouped data.  The cumulative frequency of a class is obtained by adding the frequencies of all classes preceding the given class. To calculate median either more than or less than cumulative frequency is used.
If the data is converted into frequency distribution table it is known as grouped data.  The median for the grouped data is given by

Where l is lower class limit of median class,
n is total number of observations
cf is the cumulative frequency of class preceding the median class,
f is the frequency of median class and h is class size.

frequency, cumulative frequency, more than cumulative frequency, frequency distribution, greater than cumulative frequency, gcf

cumulative frequency, frequency, less that cumulative frequency, frequency distribution table, lcg

Median = median, median of grouped data, measure of central tendency, median class, lower limit of median class, cumulative frequency of preceding median class, frequency of median class, class limit

Where l is lower class limit of median class,

cf is the cumulative frequency of class preceding the median class,
